Accounting Clerk

Job Description

A skilled Accounting Clerk will perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks. Accounting Clerk responsibilities may include customer invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and reconciling bank statements & GL accounts. An Accounting Clerk will use Microsoft Dynamics GP as the base accounting software program to process business transactions, like accounts receivable, accounts payable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts and will use ConnectWise CRM for invoicing clients. A successful accounting clerk should be familiar with all accounting procedures and be skilled in working with numbers. A successful Accounting Clerk will ensure that the assigned daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department as needed by management.
  • Enter accurately, prepare, and maintain accounting documents and records
  • Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements
  • Invoice Customers in a timely and accurate manner
  • Process and apply client payment/cash receipts in Accounts Receivable
  • Help with accounts payable & reporting process if needed
  • Reconcile accounts, when needed, in a timely manner
  • Daily enter key data of financial transactions in Dynamics GP GL
  • Provide assistance and support to company personnel when requested by manager
  • Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies
  • Inform management and compile reports/summaries on activity areas
  • Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws
  • Review A/R Aging and/or A/P Aging and follow-up with clients and/or vendors to gain information and/or status.
  • Constantly update job knowledge
  • Maintain Confidentiality of accounting records and information

Skills:

  • Proven accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts receivable clerk and/or Accounts payable clerk
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
  • Competency in MS Office–especially Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in Accounting Software — ideally Microsoft Dynamics GP
  • Experience in CRM Software — ideally ConnectWise CRM
  • Hands-on experience with financial reports
  • Excellent Accuracy and attention to detail is required
  • Aptitude for numbers
  • Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks
  • Data entry and word processing skills
  • Well organized
  • High level of integrity
  • High school degree
  • Associate’s degree or relevant accounting certification is a plus
