Challenge
Following the acquisition, the client needed to integrate more than 2,000 vehicles and thousands of mission-critical devices supporting navigation, ELD, proof of delivery, and safety applications. Legacy Windows-based systems and outdated MDM tools limited visibility, security, and scalability, creating significant technical debt. At the same time, extended repair cycles, ongoing carrier costs for inactive devices, and inconsistent onboarding processes slowed expansion and increased operational costs.
Solution & Implementation
Heartland implemented its AlwaysOn lifecycle services model, beginning with a full migration to Android-based rugged devices managed through SOTI MobiControl. This provided centralized visibility, improved security, and consistent device management across transportation and warehouse environments. A standardized “Golden Image” ensured devices were fully configured and ready for rapid deployment, reducing onboarding time and eliminating inconsistencies.
To minimize downtime, Heartland introduced a managed spare pool for overnight device replacement and took over carrier lifecycle management to align telecom usage with active devices. Following a successful pilot, the program scaled nationwide, supporting thousands of devices while enabling faster site onboarding, improved connectivity through a dual-carrier strategy, and seamless hardware transitions.

The transformation delivered a more resilient and scalable mobility environment, supporting over 4,000 devices across 60+ locations.
