The company’s legacy Windows CE/Telnet environment and aging MDM tools created significant management challenges and limited remote support capabilities. The addition of consumer-grade devices further reduced reliability and increased IT overhead. At the same time, a shift to subscription-only licensing drove up long-term costs while reducing flexibility. On the warehouse floor, inefficient processes like manual logins, complex scanner pairing, and static printing workflows slowed productivity and increased labor demands.

Solution & Implementation

Heartland deployed a modern mobility framework built on rugged Honeywell Android devices, including the CT47, CT45XP, and CW45 wearables, delivering improved durability and performance across distribution workflows. StayLinked SmartTE replaced legacy software to enable centralized, server-managed configuration, while SOTI MobiControl Cloud provided scalable device management, remote support, and streamlined provisioning.

The rollout was executed in phases across distribution centers to ensure stability and minimize disruption. Heartland implemented certification controls for OS updates, along with custom enhancements such as auto-login functionality, unified keyboards, and simplified scan-to-pair provisioning.
